actor Satendra Soni, who was seen in India's official Oscar entry Laapataa Ladies in a key role, recently shared a shocking video on social media. The actor alleged that he was shooting for an upcoming project in Maihar, Madhya Pradesh, when the makers refused to pay his agreed remuneration after a signing amount of Rs 50,000. He further claimed that they threatened to physically harm him. Breaking down in tears, Soni said he had already completed eight days of shooting, but his payment was delayed. When he confronted the director, he was allegedly intimidated. The video has sparked concerns over the dignity of artists and timely payments.
AICWA Strongly REACTS To Satendra Soni's Allegations
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has expressed concern over Soni's allegations. The body urged the Madhya Pradesh government to take immediate cognisance of the matter and conduct a fair and impartial investigation. The association also appealed to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to direct the police to register an FIR against the producer and director based on Soni's allegations and ensure the safety and security of film workers and artists in the state."The emotional video shared by Satendra Soni reflects the pain and distress he says he has endured. His allegations raise serious concerns about the treatment of artists and workers in the Indian film industry. No artist or worker should have to endure such treatment," said AICWA in a statement. The association further stated that many artists allegedly face similar harassment and that such complaints deserve serious attention. It added that Soni had brought these concerns into the public domain, highlighting the hardships artists and workers may face."This is not a minor matter. The Government of Madhya Pradesh should take immediate cognisance of this issue and ensure a fair and impartial investigation. Every worker and artist deserves dignity, timely payment, and protection from intimidation," they added.
Satendra Soni Shares Update
Soni, in a recent Instagram update, shared that he had safely reached Mumbai from Madhya Pradesh. He thanked the Maihar Police and everyone else who helped him. Two other artists, who allegedly faced a similar ordeal, also returned with him. They expressed gratitude to the authorities for their support and assured everyone that they were safe and doing well.Meanwhile, the makers of the film, titled Pedh Palki, are yet to react to the allegations of delay of payment an intimidation.
