Laapataa Ladies Actress Pratibha Ranta Joins Mumbai CJP Protest With Gurfateh Pirzada: Ab Nahi Toh Kab

The

last two days at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar saw violent attacks amid peaceful protests by students. Following the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) paper leak, the youth have been protesting along with the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and Sonam Wangchuk. Several Bollywood celebrities visited Jantar Mantar on Monday and Tuesday to stand in solidarity with the protesting students. A protest was called for the same reason in Mumbai amid tight police security. Pratibha Ranta and Gurfateh Pirzada were at Shivaji Park in Dadar. The actors shared visuals on social media.

Gurfateh and Pratibha, both actors working in the Hindi film industry, joined the protest at Shivaji Park. Sharing pictures from the location, the Class actor wrote, First protest! Was I scared? 100% People around me told me not to go (obviously they were concerned)…some social media hate that followed and the 50 followers I lost inspite of it all I’m glad I went because anyone who thinks its smarter not to indulge is the foolish one here because thats exactly the kind of mentality thats got us here in the first place…. The crowd, the people and the energy felt just right. The younger generation is definitely onto something and we should all be a part of the change. And the GEN Z… Call them lazy, call them whatever…but they got balls!”

Pratibha shared an Instagram Story and wrote, “Ab nahi toh kab! Break the silence. Step out. Speak up.”

On July 20, Gurfateh shared an Instagram post which read, “Jaago desh, jaago. Ek baar phir kranti aayi hai.”

CJP protests

Amid the Mumbai protest, the police have imposed a ban on gatherings of five or more people, processions, loudspeakers and fireworks over fears of a breach of peace from July 23 to August 6. While the CJP’s protest continues in Mumbai, the Chalo Sansad march towards Parliament on Monday turned violent in Delhi with the police claiming that more than 118 police personnel were injured in clashes. Around 60 protesters were also reported to have sustained injuries.Police have registered five FIRs in connection with alleged violence, stone-pelting and vandalism and are examining more than 250 videos to identify those involved in the incidents. Sonam Wangchuk has been instructed by the Delhi High Court on Tuesday to abide by the medical advice and treatment protocol prescribed by doctors at Medanta Hospital while ordering his immediate transfer from Safdarjung Hospital to the private hospital of his choice. He was taken to Safdarjung Hospital after he lost over 9 kg during the hunger strike and his health reportedly deteriorated. Wangchuk had been on strike since June 28.
