actor and Bigg Boss Kannada fame Divya Suresh has alleged that she was harassed by an unidentified man while walking to her car in Bengaluru late on Sunday night. Sharing details on the incident in her Instagram post, the actor claimed the man followed her and her cousin, behaved obscenely, and continued despite being confronted. She also posted a video of the alleged incident and tagged Bengaluru Police, questioning the safety of women in the city. Questioning women’s safety in Bengaluru, Divya tagged the Bengaluru Police in her post and asked, “Where is the safety we keep being promised?”
Divya Suresh alleges harassment in Bengaluru
Divya Suresh said the incident occurred around 11.30 pm on Sunday while she and her cousin were walking towards their parked car in Bengaluru. According to the actor, an unidentified man began following them and allegedly behaved in an obscene manner.
"Tonight, my cousin and I were walking to our car at around 11.30 pm when a man started following us. While following us, he was openly touching himself. We noticed it immediately and called him out, but he still didn't stop. He continued until we got into our car," she wrote.
In an Instagram Story, Divya claimed that the harassment continued even after they got into their car. Questioning women's safety, Divya wrote,
"No woman should have to experience this simply because she's walking at night." She also tagged Bengaluru Police and asked, "Where is the safety we keep being promised?"
Divya Suresh Calls For Action
Divya also shared a video showing the incident (which has now expired). In the clip, she can be heard recording the situation while her cousin points towards the man and urges her to notice his actions. After getting inside the vehicle, Divya says the man continued following them, while her cousin asks her to call the police. As per her statement, the man allegedly remained near the car even after they locked the doors from inside. As of now, the Bengaluru Police have not issued any official statement on the alleged incident.
