Menon, who had been the first woman president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), has resigned from her position after heated discussions at its annual general body meeting. The actress confirmed that the entire committee had stepped down after a no-confidence motion at the meeting. While interacting with the media, Shwetha stated that the treasurer went missing. The resignations happened after visible dissatisfaction among a section of members. For the unversed, the committee had created history in 2025 after Shwetha Menon took over the president’s position while the actor Cuckoo Parameswaran acted as a general secretary.

What Did Shwetha Menon Say After Resigning As AMMA President?

According to Manorama Online report, Shwetha Menon told reporters after the meeting that all the executive committee members have resigned from their respective roles. She revealed that the treasurer was missing. She mentioned in her statement that the issue was not addressed after the AMMA office manager was terminated followed by a police complaint from him. The committee couldn’t even produce the accounts of that period after the treasurer went missing. Shwetha Menon clarified, “From September 1 onwards, all our accounts were in order. I can only say that I am relieved that I am no longer an AMMA member.”

As far as the meeting is concerned, Ganesh Kumar is said to have spoken in support of the current leadership, while Mohanlal maintained a neutral stance on the issue. For the unversed, the executive committee elected two women to its highest officers in 2025. It was a historic move by the AMMA. The milestone was eventually overshadowed by a string of controversies.
