the conclusion of the Padma Awards 2026 ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took time out to meet Mammootty and his family. Mammootty was conferred with the Padma Bhushan by President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday, June 23. Sharing glimpses of their special meetup, PM Modi took to Instagram to share pictures featuring Mammootty and Dulquer Salmaan.

Mammootty was honoured with the third-highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan, earlier today. His wife Sulfath, daughter Surumi, and son Dulquer Salmaan accompanied him to the Rashtrapati Bhavan and cheered for him as he received the honour from President Murmu.Post the ceremony, the family met Prime Minister and posed alongside him for pictures. Sharing the pictures, PM Modi wrote, "Met the noted actor Mammootty and his family after the Padma ceremony earlier today."In one of the pictures, Mammootty and Dulquer can be seen posing with PM Modi, with all three of them having a cheerful smile on their faces. Mammootty Is 'Humbled' By Padma Bhushan Honour
Expressing his gratitude for the Government for recognising his contribution to Indian cinema, Mammootty wrote on X, "Deeply Humbled and honored to be conferred with the Padma Bhushan. My sincere gratitude to the Government of India for this prestigious recognition."He further added, "An honor like this is a reflection of a 5 decade long journey that wouldn't exist without you , my incredible audience. Thank you for the endless love, trust, and support that keeps me going every single day. I dedicate this to the beautiful world of cinema and all of you."In his career spanning more than five decades, Mammootty has worked in not just Malayalam cinema but also Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi films. He has acted in over 400 movies across a wide range of genres and has delivered numerous blockbusters.Earlier this year, Mammootty appeared in the thriller Patriot alongside his close friend and fellow Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. He also made a special cameo appearance as Bullet Walter Lopez in Chatha Pacha. His upcoming projects include Padayaatra, directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, and OM: Chapter 1.Aside from Mammootty, other Indian celebrities such as R Madhavan and Alka Yagnik were also honoured at the Padma Awards 2026. Late actor Satish Shah was posthumously conferred Padma Shri at the ceremony.
