Gatta Kusthi 2 continues the story of Veera and Keerthi after the events of the first film. Having fulfilled his promise to support his wife’s wrestling ambitions, Veera takes on the responsibilities of managing the household while caring for their young daughter, as Keerthi focuses on her to become a national wrestling champion. Karunas, Kaali Venkat, Munishkanth and Gajaraj reprise their roles from the original, while Karunakaran, Mokksha, Zara Zyanna, Ramya Krishnan and Yogi Babu join the cast in key roles.
The technical crew includes cinematographer KM Bhaskaran, composer Sean Roldan, editor Barath Vikraman and art director S. Jayachandran. Fans have mentioned that the Thalapathy Vijay reference got loud cheers inside theatres, while many appreciated the climax, which hints at a possible third instalment in the franchise. However, a section of viewers felt the sequel did not quite match the freshness of the original, calling it as an average second part.
