Anthropic’s
AI chatbot Claude seems to be experiencing a major outage on Thursday, affecting users in India, the United States and several other parts of the world. As per the outage-tracking platform Downdetector, thousands of users reported issues while trying to access Claude’s services. In the United States, nearly 2,335 users reported issues at approximately 3:07 AM EST. Most complaints were related to Claude Chat, which accounted for 61 per cent of reports. Another 27 per cent of users reported problems with the mobile app, while seven per cent faced issues with the website.
Claude Chat Most Affected During Outage
As per the outage tracker, users in India also reported a significant disruption. Downdetector data showed that nearly 2,290 users reported issues around 12:41 PM IST. About 63 per cent of the complaints were linked to Claude Chat, 24 per cent to the app, and 10 per cent to the website. Reportedly, several major Indian cities were affected by the outage including New Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Madurai, Bengaluru and Kolkata. In the United States, the outage impacted users in cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Washington, New York and Boston, among others.
Anthropic Confirms Service Disruption
Notably, Anthropic has also confirmed the outage. The service status page of Claude AI currently shows a partial outage, indicating that the company is aware of the issue.
