Nayagan makers have finally broken the silence on the Censor Board certification of Tamil Nadu CM Joseph Vijay's much-awaited farewell film. The movie has remained in the news ever since claims surfaced last week that it has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification with an 'A' certificate with certain cuts, and that the edit list would soon appear on the CBFC website. Now, producer KVN Productions has confirmed that the reports are false and the movie is yet to be certified. Vijay's Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, has faced multiple delays since January 2026 due to censor objections, a legal dispute, and a piracy leak.

Makers debunk CBFC certificate claims

The clarification comes after a picture claiming to be the censor certificate of the film went viral on the internet recently, creating a huge buzz among Vijay's fans. However, the production house has outright denied its authenticity. Clarifying the current status of the certification process, the producer said that the CBFC has reviewed Jana Nayagan, but they have asked for a final set of revisions before issuing the official certificate. He told Indian Express, "The image being circulated is fake. The CBFC has completed its review and sent us the final list of revisions. Once we complete those changes, we are hopeful of receiving the certification and bringing the film to theatres."

Certification process nearly complete

While the certification has not yet been given, the makers are hopeful that the process is in its final leg. The production team is said to be making changes as per recommendations of the CBFC and hopes to get the film certified once they are done with the required changes.The clarification has reassured fans that the delay is simply a procedural one, not a major obstacle.

Preparations for the film's theatrical release are said to be continuing despite the pending certification. Industry sources said theatre owners across Tamil Nadu have already started planning the release, anticipating that the certification process will soon be over.The makers of Jana Nayagan are reportedly looking to launch it theatrically sometime in the last week of July or the first week of August, depending on when the CBFC gives its final nod. After the certification formalities, an official release date is expected to be announced.

One of the biggest Tamil releases of the year, Jana Nayagan is touted to be Vijay's last film before he dedicates his full attention to politics. The film features the actor-turned-politician in the lead, supported by an ensemble cast of Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj and Gautham Vasudev Menon.
