veteran actors Kamal Haasan and Mammooty mourned the death of filmmaker, actor, and writer K. Bhagyaraj, who passed away in Chennai at the age of 73 following a sudden heart attack on June 27. Visibly shattered at losing a gem of Tamil cinema, Haasan and Mammootty arrived at his residence to pay their final respects after his mortal remains were brought home from the hospital. Bhagyaraj leaves a legacy of incisive writing, characters people identify with, and movies that changed the way ordinary people are portrayed on screen. The biggest stars of the fraternity mourn his demise. For peers and cinephiles, he has left an irreplaceable vacuum.

Bhagyaraj's family members, who broke down seeing the Malayalam superstar. Other family members also couldn't hold back their tears as the actor spoke to them. Tamil icon Kamal Haasan was also seen arriving at the residence. He seemingly looked unhappy at the over crowding of paparazzi at such a sensitive moment.

Earlier in the day, Rajinikanth also visited K. Bhagyaraj's residence to pay his last respects to the late actor. He hugged his son, Shantanu Bhagyaraj, who was crying inconsolably.
Dhanush, Khushboo Sundar, Trisha Krishnan and Thiru also remembered the late actor. Bollywood stars Anil Kapoor and Boney Kapoor also remembered him.Bhagyaraj was often called the 'Screenplay King' of Tamil cinema. An actor, writer, producer, composer and storyteller, his career spanned nearly five decades. His ability to mix humour, emotion, family drama and social commentaries made him a unique voice in Indian cinema.Bhagyaraj is survived by his wife and former actress Poornima Bhagyaraj and children Shanthanu and Saranya.
