Jailer 2 Release Date: Meet The New Cast Members Of Rajinikanth's Film

makers of one of this year's most anticipated films, Jailer 2, have announced that the Rajinikanth-starrer will hit theatres on October 15. Nelson Dilipkumar returns as both writer and director for the sequel to his 2023 blockbuster Jailer. The release date was unveiled through a special glimpse featuring the ensemble cast. While several familiar faces return, the teaser also introduced a host of new actors, many of whom are relatively unfamiliar to Tamil audiences. Curious to know who they are? Who are the new actors in Rajinikanth's Jailer 2?

The sequel Jailer 2, features several notable Malayalam actors. the teaser offers a brief glimpse of Suraj Venjaramoodu, who is expected to play a prominent antagonist. The acclaimed actor has also been making a solid presence into Tamil cinema with films such as Kara and Youth.

Other Malayalam actors joining the cast include Angamaly Diaries fame Anna Reshma Rajan, actor and impressionist Kottayam Nazeer, Sujith Shankar known to Tamil audiences for his performances in Ajith Kumar's Nerkonda Paarvai and Suriya's Retro, Hakim Shajahan of Pranaya Vilasam fame, and Vineeth Thattil David, who was recently seen in Prince and Family.

The film was shot across several locations in Kerala, including Palakkad, Sholayoor, Gonjiyoor and Anaikatti.

Among the other confirmed additions are comedian-actor Santhanam, veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty, Kannada actor Meghana Raj Sarja, who returns to Tamil cinema in a key role, and Sacred Games actor Jatin Sarna, who is set to play one of the film's antagonists. Vijay Sethupathi has also revealed that he will be making a special appearance in the film. Bagavathi Perumal (Bucks) is also part of the cast. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Hrithik Roshan and Vidya Balan may also be part of the cast, although makers are yet to officially confirm it.

Reprising their roles from the first film are Ramya Krishnan, Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Mirnaa Menon, Yogi Babu, and Jaffer Sadiq. Anirudh Ravichander returns to compose the music for Jailer 2, marking his sixth collaboration with Rajinikanth and fifth with Nelson Dilipkumar. The technical crew includes cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan, editor R. Nirmal, art director DRK Kiran, and stunt choreographer Chethan D'Souza. Jailer 2 was officially announced in January 2025, with production commencing two months later. After nearly a year of filming, the shoot was wrapped up in April. Produced by Sun Pictures and presented by Kalanithi Maran, the film has created massive excitement, with every promotional content trending on social media.
