final trailer of Christopher Nolan's star studded mythic action epic The Odyssey was released on Wednesday, July 1, offering the most detailed and explosive look yet at the big screen adaptation of the ancient Greek poet Homer's text of the same name. Featuring a stellar ensemble of Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, and Lupita Nyong'o, among many others, the new trailer of The Odyssey depicts Odysseus' decade-long journey back home to his Kingdom of Ithaca after the fall of Troy.
What Is The Odyssey New Trailer All About?
The trailer shows Matt Damon's Odysseus battling 'thunder, fire, and death' as he journeys back to his 'wife, son, and home.' Back in his Kingdom at Ithaca, Robert Pattinson's spiteful antagonist Antinous is attempting to woo Odysseus' wife Penelope, played by Anne Hathaway. In one of the scenes, Antinous takes a jibe at Odysseus' son Telemachus (Tom Holland), saying, "You're pining for a daddy you didn't even know." Penelope, in the very next shot, proclaims, "Ithaca's King is coming back." A peak moment in the trailer!We then see Odysseus on his treacherous journey as he vows to 'defy the Gods' in order to return home. The Odyssey new trailer is probably the final marketing push before the release and it is certain to up the hype manifold. With a cast as huge as this and a storyteller as skilled as Christopher Nolan, it is hard to go wrong.
In fact, in a rare move for a big blockbuster, Universal has decided to skip word-of-mouth
influencer screenings for the film. Instead, after the global premiere in London on July 6, 2026, the movie will only be shown to film critics.This step is meant to keep some surprises intact for the film's global theatrical rollout. Since the film is already breaking pre-sale ticket records for IMAX, Universal likely feels it doesn't need an influencer push to build hype.Shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology, The Odyssey releases in theatres on July 17. Nolan's last release was Cillian Murphy starrer Oppenheimer, which went on to become the highest-grossing biopic at the time of release.
