For popular travel periods like the summer holidays, you should begin looking for appointment slots as early as January or February. Create an account on the correct VFS Global portal for your destination country well in advance. Check the portal frequently for new openings, as slots can appear when they are released in batches or due to cancellations. Some travellers have success checking early in the morning or late at night. Be ready with your passport details and other information, as you often have only a few minutes to secure a slot once it becomes available.
Prepare Your Documents Before You Book
One of the biggest mistakes is getting an appointment but not having the required paperwork ready. A complete and consistent application is key to approval. Before you even secure a slot, start gathering your documents.
