from your skin, it takes heat with it. However, when the air is already saturated with moisture—as it is during the high-humidity monsoon season—your sweat cannot evaporate efficiently. Your natural air conditioning system essentially stalls. Instead of cooling you down, the sweat clings to your skin, leaving you feeling sticky, hot, and uncomfortable. This physical discomfort signals to your brain that conditions aren't right for rest, making it harder to fall asleep in the first place.

Humidity's effect goes beyond mere discomfort. It actively disrupts the architecture of your sleep. Research shows that sleeping in a hot, humid environment leads to more frequent awakenings throughout the night. Even if you don't fully remember waking up, these interruptions fragment your sleep and reduce its restorative power. The fabrics you choose also matter immensely. Swap out synthetic materials for light, breathable bedding and sleepwear made from natural fibres like cotton or linen. These materials wick moisture away from your skin, allowing it to breathe. Consider sleeping with just a light cotton sheet instead of a heavy blanket or quilt.
