Typically, a standard 30-day UAE tourist visa can cost anywhere from ₹7,500 to ₹8,000, and a 60-day visa can be upwards of ₹13,000. This offer effectively removes that initial cost, representing a significant saving, especially for families and groups. The promotion is designed to reimburse a visa cost of AED 285, which is approximately ₹6,600 to ₹6,900. It's important to note this is a limited-time pilot program, running from August 1 to October 31, 2026, and is capped at 20,000 visas.
Who Qualifies for the Free Visa?
This offer is not a blanket waiver for all Indian travellers. To be eligible, you must be an Indian passport holder travelling from India. The core of the offer is tied to booking a complete holiday package. Travellers cannot apply for the visa subsidy independently; it must be processed through a participating travel partner. The key conditions that must be met include booking a package that has both a return flight from India and a hotel stay of at least three consecutive nights in Abu Dhabi. Simply booking a flight or a hotel separately will not qualify you for the complimentary visa.
How to Book and Apply
The only way to access this benefit is by booking your Abu Dhabi holiday through a participating travel partner or an approved online travel agency (OTA). Several major travel companies, such as Akbar Travels and MakeMyTrip, have partnered with DCT Abu Dhabi for this promotion. When you book a qualifying package with one of these partners, they handle the visa process. They will either work with a destination management company appointed by DCT Abu Dhabi, which covers the cost directly, or get reimbursed for the visa fee. The travel period for this offer is strictly between August 1 and October 31, 2026, so your trip must fall within these dates to be eligible. Because availability is limited, travellers are advised to plan and book their packages well in advance.
Distinguishing from Other Visa Options
It is crucial to differentiate this specific promotional offer from other UAE visa options available to Indian citizens. The UAE has a visa-on-arrival facility for Indians who hold a valid visa or residence permit from the US, UK, or EU, which comes with a fee. There are also transit visas, often sponsored by airlines like Etihad, which allow for very short stays of 48 or 96 hours. The free visa initiative is distinct from these; it is a tourism campaign tied to package bookings for a longer stay and is not available on arrival at the airport or for independent flight bookings. The goal is to encourage visitors to stay longer and explore what the emirate has to offer.
