A low-pressure system is driving widespread rainfall across central and eastern India. States like Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are on alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall. The IMD has also flagged a risk of flash floods in several districts across these states, where saturated soil and low-lying areas are prone to inundation. In the east, Jharkhand and Bihar are also expecting heavy rainfall, which could disrupt daily life and travel. Satellite imagery shows significant cloud build-up over these regions, indicating that the wet spell is likely to persist.

The northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh, are forecast to receive fairly widespread rainfall through the end of the month. This region is already grappling with the aftermath of severe flooding from earlier in the monsoon season, which affected hundreds of thousands of people and caused significant damage to infrastructure and agriculture. The National Capital Region (NCR) has also been impacted, with heavy rains on Tuesday causing severe waterlogging and significant traffic disruptions across Delhi. The adverse weather led to numerous flight delays and cancellations at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. Further south, coastal states like Goa and Karnataka are forecast to receive widespread rain, while Kerala is also expecting wet conditions. Thunderstorms and gusty winds are likely in several parts of southern India, which could affect travel plans.
