Dates, Timings, and a Mandatory Rule
The Summer Annuals edition of Amrit Udyan is open to the public from August 16 to September 15, 2026. Visitors are welcome from 10 am to 6 pm, but it is crucial to note that the last entry is at 5 pm. The gardens remain closed every Monday for maintenance.
While entry is completely free, there is a catch: you cannot simply walk in. Advance online booking is mandatory, as there are no on-the-spot registration facilities available for this special opening. Planning ahead is essential, as booking for a specific day closes at 10 am on the previous day.
How to Book Your Free Slot
Securing your visit is a straightforward online process. You must go to the official Rashtrapati Bhavan visitor portal (visit.rashtrapatibhavan.gov.in) to reserve your slot. Once on the website, navigate to the Amrit Udyan booking section. You will be asked to select a preferred date and an hourly time slot. A valid mobile number is required to complete an OTP verification. After filling in the names and details of all visitors, you can download the digital pass. Remember to carry a government-issued photo ID that matches the details on your booking for verification at the entrance.
What to See This Monsoon
This monsoon edition, named Udyan Utsav-II, has a special focus on indigenous and summer annual plants. Visitors can expect to see a vibrant display of local flowering varieties like Gul-Mehndi, Aparajita, Rukmini, and Varsha Phool, which add a unique Indian character to the historic gardens. The recent addition of the Babbling Brook Garden offers a peaceful retreat with the gentle sound of flowing water, making it a perfect monsoon feature. The rain enhances the beauty of the sprawling lawns and meticulously designed water channels, offering a different, more serene experience compared to the bustling spring season.
Getting There and Facilities
Entry and exit for all visitors are through Gate No. 35, located near North Avenue Road. To make the journey smoother, a shuttle bus service is available every 30 minutes from the Central Secretariat Metro Station, running from 9:30 am to 6 pm. To make the visit comfortable even during a downpour, several facilities have been arranged, including rain shelters along the pathways, drinking water points, first-aid stations, and restrooms. While you can't bring your own food, snacks and beverages are available for purchase inside.
Tips for a Perfect Monsoon Visit
A successful monsoon outing is all about being prepared. Carrying a good umbrella is a must. Waterproof footwear is highly recommended to navigate potentially slippery paths and puddles comfortably. While large backpacks and cameras are not allowed, you can carry your mobile phone (perfect for rain-washed photos), a wallet, a purse, and a water bottle. Traveling light will make your stroll through the gardens more enjoyable. Visiting just after a fresh shower can be particularly magical, with cooler breezes and fewer people. Special access will be provided for sportspersons on August 29 (National Sports Day) and for teachers on September 5 (Teachers' Day).
