Indian Railways has launched a new daily express train connecting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai with Sawantwadi Road in the Sindhudurg district. This service is designed to meet the long-standing demand for better connectivity
between the bustling metropolis and the serene southern Konkan region. Covering a distance of approximately 510 kilometers, the train provides a much-needed link for tourists, families, and traders, enhancing access to some of Maharashtra's most picturesque coastal destinations. The introduction of this daily service is seen as a significant boost for regional tourism and is expected to ease the passenger load on other Konkan-bound trains.
The Route: Connecting City to Serenity
The new express train features an extensive list of 22 stops, making it a highly accessible option for travelers. After departing from CSMT, the train makes halts at key suburban stations like Dadar and Thane before proceeding to Panvel, the gateway to the Konkan region. From there, its journey south includes important towns such as Pen, Roha, Mangaon, Khed, and Chiplun. Further down the coast, it stops at Ratnagiri, a major hub, before continuing to destinations like Kankavli, Kudal, and finally, Sawantwadi Road. These stops provide direct or nearby access to popular beach destinations and tranquil towns that were previously more challenging to reach by public transport.
