By Bus: The Budget-Friendly Choice
The bus is the most popular option for budget-conscious travellers, with hundreds of services running daily. The journey covers a distance of around 570 km and typically takes between 9 and 10 hours, often as an overnight trip. You can choose from a wide array of options, including government-run KSRTC and TGSRTC buses, as well as numerous private operators. These range from basic non-AC seater buses to luxurious Volvo and Scania multi-axle sleepers with amenities like blankets and charging points. Fares are highly variable, starting from as low as ₹400 for a basic seat and going up to ₹2,000 or more for a premium sleeper service. The overnight journey is a particular favourite as it saves on a night's accommodation.
By Car: Freedom and Flexibility
Driving yourself or hiring a cab offers the ultimate flexibility. The roughly 570-kilometre drive via National Highway 44 takes approximately 8 to 10 hours, depending on traffic and the number of stops you make. The route is known for its smooth road conditions, making for a pleasant road trip. This option allows you to travel on your own schedule, make spontaneous detours to explore places like Anantapur or Kurnool, and carry more luggage. However, it's also the most demanding option, requiring you to navigate and deal with the fatigue of a long drive. When calculating the cost, be sure to factor in fuel expenses, toll charges, and potential food stops along the way. For a group or family, this can sometimes be an economical and enjoyable choice.
