The Reason Behind the Disruption
The route alterations are necessary to facilitate non-interlocking and yard remodelling work between Bina station in West Central Railway and Agasod station in North Central Railway. This work is a critical part of connecting a new third railway line
in this busy section. While the construction will cause short-term inconvenience, the project is aimed at significantly boosting capacity once completed. Railway officials have stated that the upgraded infrastructure will improve the handling of train movements, accommodate rising traffic, and enhance overall operational efficiency and punctuality.
Key Dates for Travellers
The pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking work is scheduled to be carried out in phases, with the primary disruptions affecting passengers occurring from early October through October 15, 2026. While some related changes begin in late September, the bulk of the diversions for these 17 express trains are concentrated between October 1 and October 15. However, dates vary for each specific train, making it essential for passengers to verify the schedule for their particular service.
List of Major Diverted Trains
Several key long-distance services will be rerouted during this period. The Rewanchal Express (12185/12186) between Rani Kamalapati and Rewa will be diverted via Itarsi and Jabalpur from October 8 to 14. Similarly, the Jodhpur-Bhopal Express (14813/14814) will run on an altered route via Nagda, Maksi, and Sant Hirdaram Nagar from October 1 to 15. The Rewa-Dr Ambedkar Nagar Express (11703/11704) will be rerouted through Bina Malkhedi, Guna, and Maksi on several dates, including October 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, and 14. Other affected services include the Veraval-Jabalpur Express, Howrah-Bhopal Express, and Dhanbad-Bhopal Express, which will all bypass their usual routes and run via diversions involving Itarsi, Jabalpur, and Katni South on specific dates.
Cancellations and Other Service Changes
Beyond these 17 diversions, the broader engineering block is more extensive, impacting over 40 services in total, including full and partial cancellations. Around 20 trains, mostly MEMU and intercity services, are slated for cancellation during this period. This includes the Bhopal-Gwalior Intercity (12197/12198) from October 1 to 15 and the Bhopal-Damoh Rajyarani Express (22161/22162) from October 9 to 16. Some trains will also be short-terminated or will originate from different stations. For example, the Katni-Bina MEMU (11602) will terminate at Khurai instead of Bina from September 29 to October 15. These widespread changes highlight the scale of the infrastructure work being undertaken.

Given the number of changes, Indian Railways has strongly advised all passengers with travel plans passing through the Bina-Agasod section in September and October to verify their train's status before starting their journey. Travellers should pay close attention to any notifications regarding diversions, cancellations, or changes to originating and destination stations to avoid any last-minute inconvenience. Planning ahead and confirming train details closer to the date of travel will be crucial during this period of disruption.
