However, travellers should be cautious, as heavy rainfall can sometimes lead to travel disruptions; a section of the main highway was recently closed due to subsidence after intense rains.
Bhandardara: The Serene Lakeside Retreat
For those seeking tranquility, Bhandardara is a peaceful hill station nestled in the Sahyadri ranges. The monsoon turns this region into a lush paradise. Its main attractions are Arthur Lake, Wilson Dam, and the roaring Randha Falls. When the Wilson Dam overflows, it creates the spectacular Umbrella Falls, a seasonal delight for visitors. Surrounded by rolling hills and dense forests, Arthur Lake is perfect for quiet reflection as the calm waters mirror the green landscapes and cloudy skies. Amboli: The Cherrapunji of Maharashtra
Located in the southern part of the state, Amboli receives some of the highest rainfall, earning it the nickname 'Cherrapunji of Maharashtra'. The journey to the twin fortresses of Shrivardhan and Manaranjan is as captivating as the destination itself. The trail comes alive with small streams, lush foliage, and seasonal waterfalls, making the hike a refreshing challenge. From the top, trekkers are rewarded with sweeping views of the Sahyadri mountains, often shrouded in a thick blanket of mist. The experience offers a unique blend of adventure and a glimpse into the region's Maratha history.
