Long before the multi-crore contracts and luxurious lifestyle, the Pandya family faced significant financial hardship. His father, Himanshu Pandya, shut down his small car finance business in Surat and moved the family to Vadodara solely to provide his sons
with better cricket training facilities. The family lived in a rented apartment, and the boys travelled to Kiran More's cricket academy in a second-hand car. These early struggles were compounded when his father suffered multiple heart attacks, placing immense pressure on the family's finances and forcing a young Hardik and his brother Krunal to become contributors to the household income.
The 'Maggi' Diet Days
During his teenage years, the financial crunch was so severe that Hardik's diet often consisted of instant noodles. He has openly spoken about surviving on Maggi for both breakfast and dinner, as affording a proper, balanced diet was a luxury. The brothers would play in local tournaments in different villages to earn a few hundred rupees per match, often spending the entire day at the grounds with just a packet of noodles to sustain them. At one point, Hardik even had to borrow cricket kits from the Baroda Cricket Association because he couldn't afford his own.
The Dedicated Family Man
Hardik's public image is one of a confident, individualistic star, but his bond with his family, particularly his late father and brother Krunal, is profound. The sacrifices his father made are a cornerstone of his journey, a fact he frequently acknowledges. His relationship with Krunal, also an international cricketer, is a mix of brotherhood and professional camaraderie. Hardik studied at the MK High School in Vadodara but dropped out after the ninth grade to dedicate himself completely to the sport. According to his father, Hardik was primarily a leg-spinner until he was 18, only switching to fast bowling at the suggestion of his Baroda coach, Sanath Kumar. This adaptability proved to be a masterstroke for his career.

While his love for style is well-documented, his passion for automobiles goes beyond mere status symbols. It's a journey from travelling in a second-hand car to owning a fleet of luxury vehicles. Among them are a Lamborghini Huracán EVO, a Rolls-Royce, a Mercedes-AMG G63, and a Range Rover Vogue. He has even added a high-performance Ferrari to his garage. This collection reflects not just his flamboyant taste but also serves as a powerful reminder of how far he has come from his humble beginnings.
