For years, passengers traveling between Mumbai and the southern Konkan region have sought more frequent and reliable train services. The approval of this new daily express train addresses a long-standing demand. This service is not just a seasonal or festival

Train Numbers and Schedule
The new service will operate under two numbers for its daily round trip. Train No. 15087 will run from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai to Sawantwadi Road. The return service will be Train No. 15088, which will travel from Sawantwadi Road back to CSMT. While the service has been officially approved, Indian Railways is expected to announce the final launch date and the detailed daily timetable in the coming days. Some reports suggest that efforts are being made to launch the service in time for the Ganeshotsav festival to accommodate the festive rush.
Route and Key Halts
Covering a distance of approximately 510 kilometers, the train will make 22 commercial stops, ensuring comprehensive connectivity across the Konkan coast. Key halts along the route include Dadar, Thane, and Panvel in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. As it travels down the Konkan Railway network, it will stop at important towns such as Roha, Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavli, and Kudal before terminating at Sawantwadi Road. This extensive list of stops is designed to improve access to numerous destinations in the Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.
Booking and Coach Information
While official details on the coach composition are awaited, similar special services on this route often include a mix of AC-3 Tier, Sleeper Class, and General Second Class coaches. Passengers are advised to look for booking announcements on the official IRCTC website and at Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters. Bookings for new services and special trains are typically announced a few days in advance. Given the high demand on this route, especially during holidays and festival seasons, it will be important to book tickets as soon as reservations open.
