The Grind for Social Media Visibility
In India's booming creator economy, being a specialist isn't enough. A podcaster can't just be a podcaster; they must also be a YouTuber, an Instagrammer, and a TikTok creator. The problem is that a 45-minute audio discussion doesn't naturally fit into
a 60-second vertical video. For years, the solution was manual and grueling. Creators or their editors would spend hours listening back to episodes, trying to identify the most compelling soundbites. They would then manually edit these snippets, add captions, find relevant visuals, and reformat the entire package for different social platforms. This process is time-consuming and expensive, creating a significant barrier for independent creators, especially those operating outside the major metropolitan hubs and working in regional languages. One of the biggest hurdles for regional creators has always been discoverability in a crowded, often English-dominated, digital space.
From Hours of Editing to Minutes of Curation
This is where artificial intelligence is changing the game. A new category of AI-powered tools, often called 'short generation' or 'podcast clip' generators, has emerged to automate this entire workflow. Platforms like Vizard, Opus Clip, and Exemplary AI are designed to do the heavy lifting that once took a human editor hours. A creator simply uploads their long-form podcast episode—either the audio or video file—to one of these platforms. The AI then gets to work. It transcribes the entire conversation and, using advanced language processing, analyses the content to identify the most interesting, insightful, or potentially viral moments. Instead of the creator scrubbing through the timeline, the AI presents them with a selection of ready-made short clips, often complete with a 'virality score' to predict which one might perform best on social media.
Smarter Features for a Diverse Audience
The real power of these tools for regional creators lies in features that go beyond simple trimming. Many of these platforms now offer auto-captioning in multiple Indian languages. This is a crucial feature, as captions are essential for engagement on mobile, where many users watch videos with the sound off. The ability to generate accurate captions in languages like Tamil, Bengali, or Marathi without manual transcription is a massive time-saver. Some tools can automatically reframe a landscape video into a vertical one, using speaker detection to ensure the person talking is always in the centre of the shot. Other AI features include automatically removing filler words ('um', 'ah') and long pauses, making the final clip sound more polished and professional. For audio-only podcasters, some tools can even generate 'audiograms' with moving waveforms and add relevant stock video (B-roll) to create a visually engaging video from an MP3 file.
Democratising Discovery for Regional Voices
The impact of this technology extends beyond convenience. It democratises access to professional-level marketing and production, levelling the playing field for creators who lack big teams or budgets. A recent Adobe report found that 97% of Indian creators believe generative AI has positively impacted the creator economy, with many stating it allows them to create content they previously couldn't produce on their own. For a podcaster in Pune speaking Marathi or a storyteller in Kolkata creating content in Bengali, these tools are a bridge to new audiences. They can now efficiently create a pipeline of promotional content for Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts—platforms where younger audiences discover new creators. By making long-form regional content discoverable in short-form formats, AI is helping to break down language barriers and introduce India's rich linguistic diversity to a new generation of listeners.
