Eligibility Criteria: Do You Have What It Takes?
To be eligible for these coveted roles, candidates must possess a B.E./B.Tech or an equivalent qualification in the relevant engineering discipline with a minimum aggregate of 65% marks or a CGPA of 6.84 on a 10-point scale. Crucially, applicants must also have a valid GATE 2025 or GATE 2026 score in their corresponding field of engineering. The upper age limit for applicants is set at 28 years as of the application closing date, with relaxations applicable for reserved categories as per government norms. In a separate notification, the Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC) has also announced vacancies for Scientist/Engineer 'SD' roles for candidates with a PhD in life sciences fields like Biotechnology and Molecular Biology.
The Selection Process: GATE Score and Interview
The selection process for the Scientist/Engineer 'SC' posts is a two-stage affair. Initially, candidates will be shortlisted based on their GATE scores. ISRO will create a shortlist for interviews in a 1:7 ratio based on these scores. The final selection will be determined by giving 50% weightage to the candidate's GATE score and 50% to their performance in the personal interview. The interview is designed to assess a candidate's technical knowledge, comprehension, communication skills, and academic record. Unreserved candidates will need to secure a minimum of 60% in aggregate to qualify.
How to Apply: A Step-by-Step Guide
Applications for these posts must be submitted online through ISRO's official website, isro.gov.in. The process involves visiting the careers section, finding the relevant recruitment advertisement, and completing the online registration with a valid email and mobile number. Applicants must then fill in personal and educational details, including their GATE score, and upload the necessary documents like photographs and signatures. It is essential to carefully review all details before final submission. Candidates registered with the National Career Service (NCS) portal can also apply through that channel.
Important Dates: Don't Miss the Deadline
The application window for the Scientist/Engineer 'SC' posts is closing soon. The last date to submit online applications is August 17, 2026. It is highly recommended to complete the application process well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical glitches due to high website traffic. For other posts like Assistant and Junior Personal Assistant, the deadline was recently extended to August 20, 2026. However, for aspiring scientists and engineers, the August 17 deadline is firm.
