finish that diffuses light, blurs imperfections, and provides a hazy, lit-from-within glow. Unlike its predecessor, 'glass skin', which focuses on a wet, hyper-reflective shine, cloud skin is all about a balanced, semi-matte radiance. This makes it incredibly flattering both on camera and in person, offering a polished look without sacrificing a natural, skin-like texture.
The Evolution from 'Glass' to 'Cloud'
For years, the beauty world was obsessed with 'glass skin', a trend prioritising intense hydration to create a complexion so dewy it looked like glass. While stunning, it could often read as greasy on oily or combination skin types and amplify texture or pores. Cloud skin is the natural evolution, offering a more forgiving alternative. It adapts beautifully to various skin types and is especially practical for humid climates where high shine isn't always desired. The trend marries the modern desire for healthy, hydrated skin with a sophisticated, soft-focus finish that lasts longer and feels more comfortable throughout the day.
Step 1: Hydration Is Still Key
Even though the final look is semi-matte, achieving cloud skin starts with the same foundation as any great complexion: excellent skin prep. You can't create a soft, ethereal glow on a dry, flaky canvas. Begin with a clean face and layer on lightweight hydrating products. Think essences, hydrating serums, and a good moisturiser that plumps the skin without leaving a greasy residue. Step 2: Prime for a Blurred Effect
