Hosting the Games for the first time, India delivered its most successful performance ever at the Delhi 2010 edition. The nation’s athletes rose to the occasion, finishing second on the medal table and crossing the 100-medal threshold for the first and only time. India secured a total of 101 medals, including 38 golds, 26 silvers, and 36 bronzes. The shooters were particularly dominant, contributing 30 medals to the tally. She became the first Indian woman to win an individual table tennis gold medal, defeating Singapore's Yu Mengyu in the final. Her path to gold included a sensational victory over Singapore’s Feng Tianwei, the then world number four, whom she defeated twice—once in the team event and again in the individual semi-finals.
