You must be an Indian passport holder departing from India. The core requirement is booking a holiday package that includes a stay of at least three consecutive nights in an Abu Dhabi hotel. This package must also include a return flight from India. Crucially, the booking cannot be made independently; it must be done through one of the participating travel agencies or online travel platforms that are part of the scheme. A flight-only or hotel-only booking will not qualify for the free visa.
How to Book and Apply
The process is streamlined through designated travel partners. You cannot apply for this free visa directly through government portals. The first step is to identify and contact a participating travel agency. Some of the partners include well-known names like MakeMyTrip, Thomas Cook, SOTC, and Akbar Holidays, among others. When booking your package, you must ensure it meets all the criteria: a minimum three-night stay in Abu Dhabi and return flights from India, with travel completed by October 31, 2026. Once you book the qualifying package, the travel partner will handle the visa application process for you. They will submit the necessary documents to a Destination Management Company (DMC), and DCT Abu Dhabi will either cover the cost directly or reimburse the partner.
Required Documents and Key Details
While the travel agent will manage the submission, you will still need to provide the standard documents required for a UAE visa. This typically includes a clear, scanned colour copy of your passport, which must have at least six months of validity from your date of travel. You will also need a recent passport-sized photograph with a white background and copies of your confirmed flight tickets and hotel booking, which will be part of your package. Since this offer covers a 30-day UAE tourist visa, it provides ample time to explore the emirate. It’s important to confirm with your travel provider that your specific holiday package is part of the free visa initiative before making a final payment.
What About Transit Visas?
This promotional offer is different from the standard UAE transit visas. For travellers who have a long layover in Abu Dhabi but are not booking a three-night holiday, a separate transit visa is the correct option. These are typically available for 48 or 96 hours and are not free, though they are affordable. A 48-hour transit visa can be obtained through airlines like Etihad Airways for a small fee, provided you have a confirmed onward ticket to a third destination. The application for a transit visa is usually done online via the airline's website after you've booked your flights. This option is ideal for those looking to get a quick taste of the city during a stopover, but it is a separate process from the free tourist visa offer.
