Understanding the New Package Visa
In a significant move to boost tourism, Saudi Arabia has launched an innovative 'Package Visa' service. This isn't a separate type of visa, but rather a new application route that integrates an electronic tourist visa with your flight and hotel bookings.
Instead of managing each element separately, travellers can book a complete trip through an approved provider, and the visa is processed as part of that single transaction. This initiative, launched in July 2026, is designed to reduce paperwork and create a seamless journey for visitors. During its pilot phase, this service is available to citizens of seven countries, including India, Pakistan, Egypt, and Mexico.
Key Visa Requirements and Eligibility
To be eligible for the Package Visa, your nationality must be part of the current pilot program. The core document requirements are straightforward and mirror the standard e-visa process. You will need a passport with at least six months of validity from your planned date of entry and a recent passport-style digital photograph. Because the visa is tied directly to the travel package, you book the trip first through an accredited travel provider. The visa application itself is then handled automatically as part of the booking, with the approved e-visa delivered electronically, often within 24 to 48 hours.
How Flights and Hotels are Integrated
The "package" aspect is central to this route. The booking must include a confirmed round-trip flight and accommodation at a hotel licensed by the Saudi Ministry of Tourism with a rating of four stars or higher. Your flight and hotel dates must match, ensuring a cohesive itinerary. This requirement guarantees a certain standard of quality and simplifies planning, as you don't need to present separate proofs of booking to an embassy. The entire trip is confirmed in one go. Approved providers like Almosafer, Reserval, and Webook offer platforms where you can select flights and hotels as part of the package.
Package Costs and Minimum Stay
The Package Visa route comes with specific financial and duration requirements. There is a minimum package value of 4,000 Saudi riyals per adult for the first two days of the trip. This price bundles the cost of the visa (including mandatory medical insurance), flights, and accommodation. For trips longer than two days, the package value must increase by at least 1,000 riyals for each additional day. The minimum stay required under this program is two days, and it can extend up to 88 days. This structure is designed for genuine tourists looking for a complete travel experience.
The Step-by-Step Application Process
Applying through the package route is designed for simplicity. First, research and choose an approved travel provider recognised by the Saudi Ministry of Tourism. Second, browse their available packages or build your own trip, selecting your flights and a qualifying hotel. Third, you will upload your personal details, including your passport information and photograph. After completing the secure payment for the entire package, your visa application is automatically processed. Finally, you will receive your e-visa via email along with your travel documents, ready for your journey.
