By selecting this option at checkout, your ticket is confirmed immediately, and you can handle the payment later. This feature is available for both general and Tatkal bookings. However, users should be aware that this service comes with a small service charge and late payment fees if the amount isn't settled within the stipulated time.

As part of recent upgrades reportedly rolled out around July 15, 2026, IRCTC has aimed to create a faster and more intuitive user experience. The updated website and app feature a cleaner interface, which is designed to reduce distractions like unnecessary pop-ups and CAPTCHA verifications that historically slowed down the booking process. One significant improvement is the ability to see seat availability across all classes on a single page, so you no longer have to click into each class individually to check for seats. This, combined with an increased capacity to handle more bookings and enquiries per minute, is intended to make the platform more stable during peak hours.
