What is the New Visa Offer?
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has launched a pilot programme that offers complimentary UAE entry visas to eligible Indian tourists. This is not a visa-free travel scheme but a targeted promotion where DCT Abu Dhabi covers
the full cost of the visa for qualifying holiday bookings. The initiative aims to make Abu Dhabi a more attractive destination for Indian travellers by reducing the upfront cost of the trip. The programme will initially support up to 20,000 visas. Once this cap is reached, the offer will close, regardless of the end date.
Who is Eligible for the Free Visa?
This offer is specifically designed for Indian passport holders who are departing from India. To be eligible, travellers cannot apply for the visa independently; the benefit is tied to a complete holiday package booked through specific channels. The core requirements are straightforward: you must be an Indian citizen travelling from India and book a qualifying holiday package to Abu Dhabi. The promotion is aimed at boosting tourism and encouraging longer stays in the emirate.
Travel Dates and Stay Requirements
The promotional period for this visa offer is from August 1, 2026, to October 31, 2026. Bookings made for travel within this window are eligible, subject to the 20,000 visa cap. A crucial condition of the offer is the minimum stay requirement. Each booking must include a minimum of three consecutive nights at a hotel within Abu Dhabi. A simple flight booking or a stay of less than three nights will not qualify for the complimentary visa. The package must also include a return flight from India.
Booking Through a Partner is Essential
Perhaps the most important aspect of this offer is how you book your trip. The complimentary visa is only available for holidays booked through participating travel partners and online travel agencies (OTAs). You cannot book flights and hotels directly and then apply for the visa subsidy. Instead, you must work with an approved travel agent or OTA who is part of the DCT Abu Dhabi programme. These partners will handle the visa application process, and DCT Abu Dhabi will either cover the cost directly or reimburse the partner, ensuring the traveller does not have to pay the visa fee.
How to Secure Your Complimentary Visa
The process for the traveller is quite simple. First, identify a travel agency or online platform that is participating in the Abu Dhabi programme. Then, book a qualifying holiday package that includes return flights from India and at least a three-night hotel stay in Abu Dhabi. Once booked, you will submit the necessary documents to your travel partner, who will then process the visa application on your behalf. The cost of the visa will be waived as part of the package. Given the limited number of visas available, it is advisable to confirm with your travel provider that the offer is still active before finalizing your payment.
What If You Don't Qualify?
If your travel plans don't align with this specific offer, there are other visa options for Indian citizens. Many Indian passport holders who have a valid visa or residence permit from the US, EU, Canada, or Australia may be eligible for a 14-day visa on arrival for a fee. For those who don't qualify for visa-on-arrival, the standard pre-arranged 30-day or 60-day tourist e-visas remain available. Additionally, airlines like Etihad often have stopover programmes that may include benefits like free hotel stays, which can be an alternative way to explore Abu Dhabi.
