Current Openings: Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’
ISRO has announced recruitment for Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ positions through its Centralised Recruitment Board (ICRB). For 2026, a total of 93 vacancies have been advertised across several engineering disciplines. These roles are Group 'A' Gazetted Posts,
placed in Level 10 of the Pay Matrix, with a minimum basic pay of ₹56,100 per month plus allowances. The vacancies are spread across key ISRO centres like those in Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, Ahmedabad, and Sriharikota.
Breakdown of Available Roles
The recruitment drive targets several specific engineering fields. The majority of openings are in Electronics with 35 posts, followed by Mechanical with 26, and Computer Science with 13. Other available roles include 10 posts in Civil engineering, 4 in Electrical, 2 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, and 2 in Architecture. An additional post for Civil engineering is available in the autonomous Physical Research Laboratory (PRL). This diverse range of roles highlights the multidisciplinary expertise required to power India's space missions.
Essential Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, candidates must possess a B.E./B.Tech or an equivalent degree in the relevant engineering discipline. A crucial requirement is a minimum aggregate of 65% marks or a CGPA of 6.84 on a 10-point scale. Furthermore, this recruitment cycle mandates a valid GATE score. Applicants must have a valid score from either GATE 2025 or GATE 2026 in the corresponding subject to be considered for shortlisting. The age limit for most posts is 28 years as of August 17, 2026, with relaxations for OBC, SC/ST, and other categories as per government rules.
The Selection Process
The selection process for these coveted positions is two-fold. First, candidates will be shortlisted based on their GATE scores. ISRO will create a shortlist for interviews in a 1:7 ratio based on these scores. It is important to note that the GATE score itself, not the rank or marks, will be used for this initial screening. The second stage is a personal interview designed to assess the candidate's technical knowledge, comprehension, and communication skills.
How to Apply and The Deadline
Applications for this recruitment drive are being accepted exclusively online through the official ISRO website, www.isro.gov.in. The application window opened on July 28, 2026. Aspiring candidates must complete and submit their online applications before the deadline, which is August 17, 2026. After registering, applicants receive a unique online Registration Number that should be saved for all future correspondence. Candidates must ensure they provide a valid email address and that all information entered is accurate to avoid disqualification.
