for the same group, a new package-based visa, and the traditional consulate visa. India is a top source market for Saudi tourism, and these streamlined options reflect the growing ties between the nations. The tourist visa allows for multiple entries over a one-year period, with a maximum stay of 90 days, and can even be used to perform Umrah.
E-Visa and Visa on Arrival Eligibility
The most convenient options are the e-visa and visa on arrival, but they come with a specific condition. Indian passport holders are eligible if they hold a valid tourist or business visa from the USA, UK, or a Schengen country. This qualifying visa must have been used at least once to enter the issuing country, and you may need to show an entry stamp as proof. If you meet this requirement, you can either apply for an e-visa online before you travel or get a visa on arrival after landing. New 'Package Visa' for All Travellers
A recent development is the introduction of a 'Package Visa' pilot program, which does not require a pre-existing Western visa. This electronic visa is issued when travellers book a package that includes a return flight and a stay at a licensed four-star (or higher) hotel through designated platforms. This route is designed for those planning a more structured trip. The visa allows for stays between two and 90 days. It is a significant step, opening doors for Indian tourists who don't have a US, UK, or Schengen visa.
The 96-Hour Stopover Visa
For those with a layover in Saudi Arabia, the 96-hour Stopover Visa is a game-changer. This free visa allows travellers to enter the country for up to four days. It is issued when you book your flights with Saudia or Flynas and can be used for tourism or performing Umrah. This is an excellent option for Indian travellers heading to Europe or the US who want to add a short trip to their itinerary without the cost of a full tourist visa. While the visa itself is free, a nominal fee for mandatory health insurance is typically required.
Essential Documents and Costs
Regardless of the visa type, all applicants will need a few core documents. This includes a passport valid for at least six months from your entry date, a recent passport-sized photograph, proof of accommodation, and confirmed return flight tickets. Mandatory health insurance is included in the visa fee and is required for entry. The cost for the tourist e-visa is approximately SAR 300, which includes the base fee and insurance. The visa fee for the new package visa route is around SAR 402, inclusive of insurance.
