In a city already known for its architectural wonders and luxurious experiences, Dubai is adding another dazzling attraction: a walkway made of 24-carat gold. This new project is set to become a must-see spot for tourists and locals alike.
A Path Paved with Gold
Dubai is preparing
to launch what is being called the world's first and longest walkway made of 24-carat gold. The attraction is planned for the Dubai Gold District, a commercial hub dedicated to the gold and jewellery trade in the historic Deira area. According to Rashid Al Harmoudi, a senior director at the district, the project will allow visitors the unique experience of strolling along a literal golden path. While full details on the exact length and amount of gold used are still forthcoming, the walkway is expected to open to the public within the next two months, before the end of 2026.
The Heart of the Gold District
The location for this glittering pathway is no coincidence. The Dubai Gold District, which officially launched in January 2026, aims to consolidate the city's status as a global centre for the gold trade. The area brings together over 1,000 retailers, wholesalers, and traders in gold, jewellery, and other luxury goods. The gold walkway is a key part of a broader strategy to transform the commercial district into a major tourist destination. It is also intended to support a large-scale gold and jewellery exhibition planned for the area, which aims to be the biggest of its kind in the Middle East.
Another Jewel in Dubai's Crown
This golden walkway joins a long list of ambitious and photo-worthy landmarks that have come to define Dubai. The city has a well-established reputation for creating architectural marvels that draw global attention and fill social media feeds. From the towering Burj Khalifa and sail-shaped Burj Al Arab to the gigantic Dubai Frame and the futuristic Museum of the Future, each new project aims to be more audacious than the last. The 24-carat gold walkway fits perfectly into this strategy, offering a unique, tangible, and highly shareable experience that blends luxury with spectacle.
More Than Just a Walkway
The announcement of the walkway was made around the same time Dubai celebrated setting two new Guinness World Records for the world's heaviest and largest pair of gold earrings. The massive, 16.5-kilogram earrings, crafted in a traditional Indian 'jhumka' style, are on permanent display in the city, further highlighting Dubai’s deep connection to the gold industry. The walkway is seen as a physical manifestation of this connection, transforming the abstract idea of Dubai as a 'city of gold' into a real-world attraction. It aims not just to be a pathway, but a symbol of the city's opulence and its long history with the precious metal.
