Step-by-Step Booking Process
Once you're on the official website, the process is straightforward. First, you'll need to select the national park you wish to visit. Next, choose your desired date and time slot—safaris typically run in the morning and evening. You will then be prompted to select a safari zone. Bandhavgarh has popular core zones like Tala, Magdhi, and Khitauli, while Satpura's main entry point is Madhai gate. You'll also choose your permit type: 'Full Vehicle' allows you to book an entire 6-seater jeep for your group, while 'Single Seat' is an option for solo travelers or smaller groups willing to share. After filling in these details, you must enter the personal information for every visitor, including full name, age, gender, and ID proof number. Finally, you'll complete the booking by making the payment online. Remember to keep a digital or printed copy of the confirmation.

Accuracy is key when booking. The name and ID number you enter on the portal must exactly match the government-issued photo identification you will carry with you on the safari. While both parks use the same booking portal, there are some key distinctions. Bandhavgarh is world-renowned for its high tiger density, making permits for its core zones incredibly competitive. Zones like Tala are particularly sought after. Satpura, on the other hand, is celebrated for its unique safari experiences beyond the standard jeep tour. It is one of the few parks in India that offers walking safaris and boat safaris on the Denwa River, providing different perspectives on its diverse wildlife. These specialized safaris might have separate booking procedures or availability that you should check on the portal or with your lodge. For instance, to access the popular Madhai zone in Satpura, you must cross the Denwa river by boat to reach the safari jeeps.
Tips for a Successful Booking
Plan well in advance. Safari permits for popular zones can be booked up to 120 days ahead and often sell out within minutes of becoming available, especially for peak season (October to April). If your desired dates are sold out, check for 'Tatkal' quotas. A Premium Tatkal quota sometimes opens 7 days in advance, and a Single Seat Tatkal quota may open one day prior. Also, remember that all core zones in Madhya Pradesh are closed for safaris on Wednesday afternoons, as well as on major holidays like Holi and Diwali. The parks are completely closed during the monsoon season, typically from July 1st to September 30th.
