Timings and Booking Essentials
For its Summer Annuals edition, Amrit Udyan is open to the public from August 16 to September 15, 2026. Visitors can explore the gardens from 10 am to 6 pm, though it's important to note that the last entry is at 5 pm. The garden remains closed every
Monday for regular maintenance. Entry is completely free of charge, but planning ahead is crucial. All visitors must book their slots online in advance through the official Rashtrapati Bhavan website, as there is no facility for on-the-spot booking. Bookings for any given day close at 10 am on the previous day, so be sure to reserve your spot early to avoid disappointment. Entry is through Gate No. 35, located near North Avenue Road.
What You Should Carry
A rainy day visit requires a few essentials. An umbrella is a must-have to shield yourself from showers as you walk through the sprawling 15-acre estate. Comfortable, waterproof footwear is highly recommended, as pathways can get slippery. Visitors are permitted to carry their mobile phones, wallets, purses, and small handbags. If you are visiting with an infant, milk bottles are allowed. You can also carry your own water bottle to stay hydrated. A government-issued photo ID is mandatory for all visitors and will be checked at the entrance along with your digital visitor pass. To make the journey smoother, a shuttle bus service runs every 30 minutes from the Central Secretariat Metro Station to the entrance gate.
Items That Are Not Allowed
To ensure security and maintain the garden's pristine condition, several items are strictly prohibited. Visitors cannot bring any eatables, including paan and gutka, or cigarettes. Professional cameras and video cameras are not permitted inside, although you are free to take pictures with your mobile phone. Larger items like backpacks are also on the restricted list. For visitor convenience, facilities like a cloakroom, restrooms, first-aid stations, and drinking water are available along the designated route. There is also a food court where snacks and beverages can be purchased, so you won't have to worry about refreshments during your visit.
Monsoon's Floral Highlights
A monsoon visit offers a chance to see a unique collection of indigenous and native flowering plants. The Summer Annuals edition is specifically curated to showcase India's rich floral diversity. Keep an eye out for vibrant displays of Balsam (Gul-mehndi), Aparajita, Gomphrena (Battum Phool), and Rukmini. These native species are complemented by beautiful ornamental summer flowers like Canna, Rajanigandha, Cosmos, and Sunflowers, arranged in colourful mixed borders. The rain-washed greenery provides a stunning backdrop to these blooms. New attractions for this season include the Babbling Brook, a serene garden space with a meandering stream, and the Bal Vatika, a dedicated children's garden featuring a 225-year-old Sheesham tree.
