Setting Up for Success
Before you head to the roof, a little preparation goes a long way. First, fully charge your phone. Give your eyes at least 15-20 minutes to adjust to the darkness once you're outside; avoid looking at your bright phone screen during this time. Battling the Urban Glow
Light pollution is the biggest challenge for city stargazers, as stray light from buildings and streets washes out fainter stars. However, planets are typically bright enough to punch through the glow. To improve your chances, find the darkest spot on your roof, away from direct streetlights or security lamps. You can even cup your hands around your eyes to block out peripheral light. The best viewing nights will have clear, haze-free skies. Locating the Gas Giants

When looking at Saturn through binoculars, you won't see the rings as separate from the planet, but it may appear as a slightly elongated, oval-shaped object rather than a perfect point. It's a subtle but rewarding confirmation that you are, in fact, looking at the famous ringed planet.
