In a move set to significantly enhance travel between India's financial capital and the picturesque Konkan region, Indian Railways has given the green light for a new daily express train. This service will run between Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
Terminus (CSMT) and Sawantwadi Road, a key town in the Sindhudurg district. The approval of train numbers 15087 and 15088 marks a welcome development for the thousands who travel for tourism, business, education, or to visit their hometowns. Spanning a route of approximately 510 kilometres, this daily service is expected to ease passenger load on one of Maharashtra's busiest corridors and support the regional economy by making popular destinations more accessible.
The Route and Key Halts
The new express train is planned with extensive coverage across the Konkan belt to maximize its utility. It will have 22 commercial stoppages, providing crucial links to numerous towns. Starting from CSMT, the train will make stops at major Mumbai Metropolitan Region stations like Dadar and Thane before proceeding to Panvel. From there, it will traverse the Konkan Railway network, with key halts including Roha, Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavli, and Kudal, before terminating at Sawantwadi Road. This comprehensive list of stops ensures that passengers can access important commercial, religious, and tourist centres throughout the Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.
