However, when the air is already saturated with water vapor—as it is on a humid night—your sweat can't evaporate efficiently. The moisture clings to your skin, leaving you feeling sticky and clammy. This prevents the release of heat, meaning your core body temperature struggles to drop. Your body has to work much harder just to stay comfortable, which is a major distraction when it should be powering down for rest.

To combat high humidity, using a dehumidifier or running an air conditioner are the most effective methods. Improving ventilation by using fans can also help circulate air and promote a cooler feeling. Opting for breathable, moisture-wicking bedding and sleepwear made from natural fabrics like cotton or bamboo can make a significant difference. Taking a lukewarm shower before bed can also help, as the subsequent evaporation of water from your skin helps lower your body temperature. Finally, if possible, consider mattresses with better airflow, like latex or hybrid models, as some foam mattresses can trap heat and moisture.
