Verifying Career Claims
This is where the marketing hype is often the loudest. Be extremely skeptical of promises like "Guaranteed 100% placement" or specific, high-income figures like "Earn six figures in a few months." These claims are almost always misleading because no course can control the job market or your individual performance. Instead of taking these claims at face value, do your own verification. Ask the course provider for anonymized data on alumni placements. Better yet, use LinkedIn to find past students and see what kinds of roles they have landed after completing the program. This provides direct evidence of career outcomes. Understand the difference between 'placement assistance'—which might just mean resume-building workshops—and an actual job guarantee. Some misleading schemes even require you to pay for job opportunities that turn out to be fake or unpaid internships. A credible certification should be recognised by employers or affiliated with reputable institutions or tech companies.
Looking for Hands-On Application
Theoretical knowledge alone will not land you a job in the AI industry. Employers want to see what you can build. A strong AI course must prioritize hands-on, project-based learning that helps you build a professional portfolio. These projects should be designed to solve real-world problems. The ability to show a potential employer a functioning project you developed is far more powerful than a certificate alone. The course should provide the necessary tools, datasets, and mentorship to help you complete these projects successfully. Some of the most valuable skills in AI involve judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to apply concepts to new problems—abilities that are honed through practice, not passive learning. While AI can assist in the learning process, it cannot replace the critical thinking and creative problem-solving that come from building something yourself.
