There is a growing emphasis on combining modern science with traditional Ayurvedic ingredients known for their resilience, such as neem, turmeric, and aloe vera, which offer antibacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits ideal for troubled skin in humid weather.
What to Look for on the Label
For consumers looking to build a climate-resilient routine, the key is to look for specific claims and ingredients. Seek out products explicitly labelled “sweat-proof,” “humidity-resistant,” or “tested for Indian skin.” In skincare, look for anti-pollution benefits, often powered by antioxidants like Vitamin C, niacinamide, and green tea extract, which help neutralize free radical damage from environmental aggressors. High-SPF sunscreens with a PA++++ rating are non-negotiable to protect against intense UV radiation. For makeup, terms like “oil-free,” “non-comedogenic,” and “matte-finish” are good indicators of a product’s ability to withstand the heat without causing breakouts or looking greasy.
