ISRO continues to be a major recruiter, regularly announcing vacancies for Scientist/Engineer 'SC' positions for computer science graduates, often through GATE scores or its own centralized exams. However, the private sector now offers a dynamic alternative. Companies like Skyroot Aerospace (which launched India's first private rocket) and Agnikul Cosmos (known for its 3D-printed engines) are hiring for launch vehicle development. In the satellite domain, Pixxel is building a constellation of hyperspectral imaging satellites, while Dhruva Space works on satellite platforms. Other notable names include Bellatrix Aerospace (propulsion systems) and Digantara (space situational awareness). These startups, concentrated largely in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai, offer faster-paced environments where young engineers can gain immense responsibility quickly.

Beyond a strong academic record, practical experience is key. Engage in projects that demonstrate your skills, whether it's participating in university satellite programs, robotics clubs, or contributing to open-source space-related software. Internships are an invaluable way to gain industry exposure. Many private startups and even ISRO offer them. Focus your coursework on relevant specializations like embedded systems, AI/ML, and robotics.
