The district administration of Parvathipuram Manyam has announced an ambitious plan to promote ‘bike tourism’, aiming to unlock the region's immense natural potential. The core idea is to introduce curated motorcycle and cycling routes that guide tourists
through the area's stunning landscapes, which are part of the lush Eastern Ghats. District Collector Prabhakar Reddy has directed officials to identify and develop circuits of approximately 30 kilometres. These routes are designed to connect waterfalls, scenic viewpoints, trekking trails, and rest areas, creating a comprehensive and accessible adventure for visitors. This move builds on the success of a pilot tribal bike taxi service, which helped tourists reach remote waterfalls and received an overwhelmingly positive response.
Exploring the Allure of the Eastern Ghats
Parvathipuram Manyam is a region defined by its natural splendour. It boasts dense forests, rolling hills, and a network of winding ghat roads that are already popular with riding enthusiasts. The district is home to numerous waterfalls, which have become a major draw, with officials noting a significant surge in visitors recently. Locations like Lodda, Moganali, and Neelamvalasa waterfalls offer breathtaking cascades amidst serene, green surroundings. The new bike tourism initiative seeks to formalize this attraction, making it safer and more organized. By creating marked trails, the administration hopes to showcase the district's reputation as the 'Home of Waterfalls' while allowing travellers to immerse themselves in its tranquil environment.
More Than Just a Scenic Ride
This initiative is about more than just tourism; it’s a strategic push for sustainable development and community empowerment. A key objective is to create livelihood opportunities for the local tribal communities that call the Manyam region home. The project will integrate local culture and commerce, with plans to set up stalls for local foods and tribal handicrafts along the routes. Building on the success of the 'Adi Karma Yogi' initiative, where Adivasi communities have been instrumental in developing eco-tourism infrastructure, this new push continues the focus on community-led growth. By employing tribal youth as guides and service providers, the district aims to ensure that the economic benefits of tourism flow directly back into the local population, fostering a sense of ownership and preserving cultural heritage.

Officials are moving quickly to turn this vision into a reality. The district collector has set a timeline for identifying suitable routes across all four assembly constituencies: Parvathipuram, Kurupam, Salur, and Palakonda. The plan includes not only marking the trails but also developing essential infrastructure like rest shelters, secure overnight stay facilities, and trekking paths. The administration is also considering adventure sports like rock climbing to further enhance the appeal. An official logo for the project is being prepared, signalling a concerted branding effort to put Manyam on the national tourism map. For travellers, this means that a new, well-supported, and exciting adventure destination is on the horizon, promising an authentic experience of Andhra Pradesh's wild heart.
