Why Are Trains Being Diverted?
The disruptions are necessary to facilitate significant engineering work being carried out by the West Central Railway and North Central Railway. The core of the project involves yard remodelling at Bina and Agasod stations, as well as connecting a new
third railway line between them. This work includes pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking phases, which are essential for modernising the signalling systems and track layouts. While these technical terms might sound complex, the goal is simple: to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of train operations. By undertaking these upgrades, the railways aim to increase capacity to handle rising traffic and improve the punctuality of services in the long run.
Rewa & Jabalpur Services on New Paths
Several services connecting Madhya Pradesh will see route changes on specific dates. Train No. 12185 Rewa-Rani Kamalapati Rewanchal Express will be diverted via Katni, Jabalpur, and Itarsi Junction from October 8 to 14. Its corresponding service, Train No. 12186 Rani Kamalapati-Rewa Rewanchal Express, will use the same alternate route in the reverse direction during this period. Similarly, Train No. 11703 Rewa-Dr Ambedkar Nagar Tri-Weekly Express is rerouted via Bina Malkhedi, Mahadevkhedi, Guna, Ruthiyai, and Maksi on October 8, 11, and 13. The return train, No. 11704, will follow this diverted path on October 9, 12, and 14. Additionally, the Jabalpur-Veraval Express (11466) and Veraval-Jabalpur Express (11465) will be diverted via the Itarsi-Bhopal route on select dates.
Bhopal-Originating Trains Rerouted
A number of trains starting from or ending in Bhopal are also on the diversion list. The popular Jodhpur-Bhopal Express (14813) and Bhopal-Jodhpur Express (14814) will run on an alternate route for the duration of the work. The Bhopal-Dhanbad Tri-Weekly Express (11631) is scheduled to run through Itarsi, Jabalpur, Katni South, and New Katni Junction on October 9, 12, and 15, with its partner train (11632) taking the same route back. The weekly Bhopal-Chopan Express (11633/11634) is also diverted via the Itarsi-Jabalpur route on October 11 and 12. Finally, the Bhopal-Singrauli Tri-Weekly Express (22165) will operate via Itarsi, Jabalpur, and Katni South on October 10, 13, and 14.
Other Major Diversions to Note
Beyond the services mentioned, other trains passing through the affected section will also be impacted. For example, the Thiruvananthapuram-Hazrat Nizamuddin service is set to skip both Bhopal and Bina stations on its journey on October 13. The Chennai-New Delhi Tamil Nadu Superfast Express will also be rerouted on certain days, running via Bhopal, Maksi, Guna, and Gwalior, thereby skipping its usual stop at Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi station. These changes are part of a wider effort across multiple railway zones to upgrade infrastructure, with non-interlocking work also affecting routes in Danapur and Mokama around the same period, leading to hundreds of cancellations and diversions on eastern routes.

Even if your train is not on this specific diversion list, it is wise to check for any last-minute changes, as knock-on delays can sometimes affect other services on the network. For those whose journeys are affected, finding alternative travel at short notice can be challenging, especially during peak travel times.
