Secure Your Spot: Mandatory Online Booking
The first step to a seamless visit is booking your entry online, as there are no on-the-spot ticket facilities. Entry is free of charge, but a confirmed time slot is mandatory for all visitors. You can reserve your visit through the official Rashtrapati
Bhavan website (visit.rashtrapatibhavan.gov.in). Bookings for a particular day close at 10 AM on the previous day, so it’s wise to plan ahead, especially for weekends. You can book for up to six people on a single ticket. Remember to carry a digital copy of your ticket on your mobile phone and a valid photo ID.
Perfect Timing: When to Visit
The Summer Annuals Edition 2026 of Amrit Udyan is open to the public from August 16 to September 15. The gardens welcome visitors from 10 AM to 6 PM, with the last entry permitted at 5 PM. The Udyan remains closed every Monday for maintenance. To make the most of your visit, check the weather forecast. Aim for a morning slot to enjoy the fresh, rain-washed environs or a late afternoon visit when the light is soft. Sheltered areas are available along the routes to provide cover during sudden showers. For added convenience, a shuttle bus service runs every 30 minutes from Central Secretariat Metro Station (Gate 4) to the entrance at Gate No. 35 on North Avenue Road.
Dress Smartly for a Rainy Day
Comfort is key when navigating the sprawling 15-acre gardens. Opt for comfortable, water-resistant footwear instead of heels or slippery flip-flops to handle wet pathways with ease. Light, breathable clothing will keep you comfortable in the humid weather. A reliable umbrella is a must-have, and it is a permitted item inside the gardens. You can also carry a small handbag or purse for your essentials. While cameras and video cameras are not allowed, you can use your mobile phone for pictures.
Embrace the Monsoon Blooms
The monsoon brings out a unique collection of flora. This season’s display focuses on indigenous and native flowering plants that thrive in the rain. Look out for vibrant blooms like Gul-Mehndi (Balsam), Aparajita, Rukmini, and Varsha Phool. The rain makes the extensive lawns and gardens appear exceptionally lush and the colours of the flowers more intense. New additions like the Babbling Brook Garden, with its gently flowing water, are particularly serene during this season. Don't miss other key areas like the Circular Garden, Bonsai Garden, and the 225-year-old Sheesham tree in the Bal Vatika.
Know What to Carry (and What to Leave Behind)
To ensure a smooth entry and a pleasant visit, it's important to know the rules. You are allowed to carry your mobile phone, wallet, purse, umbrella, and water bottles. For those visiting with infants, baby milk bottles are also permitted. However, items like eatables, backpacks, cameras (other than mobile phones), and video cameras are not allowed inside. Facilities like drinking water, first-aid stations, and restrooms are available for visitors along the designated route.
Plan for Special Access Days
The Rashtrapati Bhavan has also made special arrangements for certain groups on specific days. If you are a sportsperson, you can get special entry on August 29 to mark National Sports Day. Similarly, teachers will have special access on September 5 for Teachers' Day. These dedicated days offer a wonderful opportunity for professionals in these fields to enjoy the gardens in a more focused setting. Planning your visit around these dates if they apply to you can make the experience even more memorable.
