Introducing the Amrit Bharat Express
Indian Railways has officially regularised the Gorakhpur-Delhi special train into a new weekly service: the Amrit Bharat Express. This service, which began its regular run from Gorakhpur on August 27, 2026, is designed to provide a more affordable and
reliable travel option for passengers on this high-demand route. Unlike the premium, all-AC Vande Bharat trains, the Amrit Bharat Express is aimed at improving connectivity for a wider range of passengers, primarily offering non-AC accommodation and connecting several mid-sized towns along the way. The train will operate under new numbers: 15095 from Gorakhpur to Delhi and 15096 for the return journey from Delhi to Gorakhpur.
Timings and Route Details
The journey covers approximately 780 kilometres in about 14 hours. Train No. 15095 will depart from Gorakhpur Junction every Thursday at 10:45 PM and is scheduled to arrive at Delhi Junction at 12:50 PM the next day. For the return journey, Train No. 15096 will leave Delhi Junction every Friday at 2:10 PM, reaching Gorakhpur at 6:30 AM the following morning. The train makes eight key intermediate stops, ensuring connectivity across Uttar Pradesh. The major halts include Khalilabad, Basti, Gonda, Burhwal, Sitapur, Bareilly, Moradabad, and Ghaziabad, before terminating in Delhi.

As the Amrit Bharat Express is positioned as an affordable service, fares are expected to be budget-friendly, catering to passengers in non-AC sleeper and general second-class coaches. While exact fares are subject to dynamic pricing, they will be significantly lower than AC classes on other superfast trains and Vande Bharat services. Bookings are available through the standard Indian Railways channels. The fastest way to travel is by flight, which takes only about an hour and a half, but it is also the most expensive option. The Amrit Bharat Express carves out a niche by offering a travel time that is competitive with faster trains and buses but at a more economical price point.
