This places AI/ML specialists among the most anxious employee groups, with their concern level nearly matching that of sales and marketing staff (68%)—a field long considered vulnerable to automation. The survey, which included 1,552 India-based professionals, reveals a stark paradox: the very people building the tools of the future feel nearly as insecure as those in roles AI is expected to disrupt.

The anxiety doesn't stem from a lack of demand for AI overall. On the contrary, other reports show India is creating more AI jobs than it loses. A Nomura report analyzing data up to August 2026 found that for every job impacted by AI, 2.6 new AI-related roles were created. So, what explains the fear?
