Shah Rukh Khan as The Mentor
Shah Rukh Khan is set to portray the lead role, a complex and skilled character reportedly named King. While initial reports suggested an extended cameo, it's now clear he is the film's core, playing a seasoned assassin or mentor figure. In his own words,
the character is "very dark" and "ruthless," a killer with significant grey shades. This role is said to be a departure from his romantic hero image, leaning into the intense, 'Don'-like swagger but with a much massier appeal. Reports also suggest the story might unfold across two timelines, showing King at different stages of his life. Leaked images from the set reveal a rugged look with grey hair and tattoos, hinting at a gritty transformation for the superstar.
Suhana Khan as The Protégé
Making her much-anticipated theatrical debut, Suhana Khan is slated to play the parallel lead. She reportedly portrays a young woman who becomes the protégé of SRK's character, training under him in a dangerous world. While the film is a huge launch for her, some reports note that the narrative, which might have initially centered more on her character, was reworked to expand her father's role. She will reportedly be engaged in significant action sequences, with reports mentioning she has undergone extensive training to build the physique required for the demanding role. Contrary to on-screen dynamics, the film will not feature them as father and daughter.
Abhishek Bachchan as The Antagonist
The primary antagonist standing against the formidable duo of Shah Rukh and Suhana is reportedly Abhishek Bachchan. His character is rumored to harbor a deep-seated hatred for SRK's King, setting up a powerful conflict. While details about his role are being kept under wraps, his inclusion promises a high-stakes face-off. One report even suggests that the older version of King will clash directly with Bachchan's character, hinting at a climactic showdown.
An All-Star Supporting Cast
King boasts an impressive ensemble cast, adding layers to its world. Deepika Padukone is confirmed to appear, marking her sixth film with Shah Rukh Khan. While some sources indicate her role is a cameo, others suggest she plays a more significant part as Suhana's mother and SRK's love interest. Rani Mukerji is also reported to have a cameo appearance. The powerful lineup continues with veteran actors like Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and Jaideep Ahlawat in key roles. Anil Kapoor is also rumored to be playing an antagonist. Rounding out the cast are Abhay Verma, reportedly playing Suhana's boyfriend, and other talented actors like Arshad Warsi, Raghav Juyal, and Saurabh Shukla.
The Vision Behind the Camera
Helming this ambitious project is director Siddharth Anand, known for delivering massive action blockbusters like 'Pathaan' and 'War'. Anand, who is also co-producing the film, aims to create a raw, high-octane spectacle. The story was developed by Sujoy Ghosh, a master of the thriller genre, ensuring a gripping narrative to match the explosive action. With a powerful cast and a top-tier technical team, including music by Anirudh Ravichander, King is being crafted as a major global release.
