Understanding the Free Visa Offer
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has launched a pilot programme aimed specifically at Indian passport holders travelling from India. From August 1 to October 31, 2026, the authority will cover the cost of a UAE entry visa
when it is booked as part of a qualifying holiday package. This is not a visa-free travel policy, but rather a targeted promotion where the standard visa fee, which is approximately 285 dirhams, is paid for by DCT Abu Dhabi. The initiative is designed to make Abu Dhabi more accessible and encourage longer stays in the emirate. During this initial phase, the programme is capped at 20,000 visas.
Who Is Eligible for the Offer?
This promotion is exclusively for Indian passport holders whose journey originates in India. To qualify for the free visa, travellers cannot apply independently. The offer is only accessible when booking a complete holiday package through a participating travel partner or an approved online travel agency. The core requirements of the package are a return flight booking from India and a hotel stay of at least three consecutive nights in Abu Dhabi. Simply booking a flight or a hotel separately will not make you eligible for the visa cost waiver.
How to Book Your Trip
The process is streamlined through travel agencies. Interested travellers should contact participating online travel agencies or local travel partners who are enrolled in the programme. When you book a qualifying package that meets the three-night stay and return-flight criteria, the travel partner will handle the visa application process. They will work with a destination management company (DMC) appointed by DCT Abu Dhabi, which covers the visa cost directly, or they will be reimbursed for the fee. As a traveller, you simply provide the necessary documents for the visa and the cost is automatically waived as part of your package deal.
Making the Most of Your Abu Dhabi Stay
With the visa cost covered, visitors can allocate more of their budget to exploring the diverse attractions Abu Dhabi has to offer. The capital of the UAE is a blend of rich cultural heritage and modern entertainment. A three-night stay provides ample time to visit iconic landmarks such as the breathtaking Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the art-filled halls of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and the thrilling theme parks on Yas Island, including Ferrari World and Warner Bros. World. The city also boasts beautiful beaches, sprawling shopping malls, and a vibrant culinary scene, with many travellers eager to visit its famous restaurants and cultural sites like the BAPS Hindu Mandir.
Important Considerations Before You Go
Since the offer is limited to the first 20,000 visas and runs only until October 31, 2026, it is wise to book sooner rather than later to ensure availability. Always confirm with your travel agent that they are a participating partner in this specific DCT Abu Dhabi programme. It is also important to remember that this is a separate promotion and does not change other UAE visa rules. For instance, Indian citizens holding valid visas for the US, UK, or EU may already be eligible for a visa on arrival, a policy that remains distinct from this package-deal offer. Additionally, families with children under 18 can benefit from a separate UAE-wide visa fee waiver for minors travelling between July 15 and September 15, 2026.
