Indian Railways has officially launched a new daily express train connecting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai directly to Sawantwadi Road in the heart of the southern Konkan region. This service, which began its operations in early
September, addresses a long-standing demand from residents and tourists for better connectivity. Operated by Central Railway, the train is expected to significantly reduce the pressure on other Konkan-bound trains that depart from various terminals across Mumbai, providing a much-needed daily travel option.

Train No. 15087 departs from CSMT late at night, at 11:55 PM, allowing passengers to sleep through the first leg of the journey before arriving at Sawantwadi Road at 2:15 PM the next afternoon. For the return journey, Train No. 15088 leaves Sawantwadi Road at 5:20 PM and reaches CSMT early the next morning at 6:40 AM, which is highly convenient for those needing to get back to the city for work. Covering a distance of about 510 kilometres, the train makes 22 stops at key locations, including Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Roha, Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavli, and Kudal, ensuring comprehensive connectivity across the entire coastal belt.
