Day 1: Arrival and Duong Dong Delights
Welcome to Phu Quoc! After arriving at Phu Quoc International Airport and settling into your accommodation, your first day is all about soaking in the local atmosphere. The main town of Duong Dong is the island's bustling heart. Start by exploring Long
Beach (Bai Truong), the island's longest beach, famous for its golden sands and stunning sunsets. It's an active area with plenty of beachfront bars and restaurants. As evening approaches, make your way to the Phu Quoc Night Market, located in the centre of town. This is the quintessential Phu Quoc experience, where you can browse souvenirs and sample an incredible variety of fresh seafood, picked by you and grilled on the spot.
Day 2: Southern Wonders and Pristine Beaches
Today is dedicated to exploring the southern tip of the island. A great way to get around is by renting a scooter or using a ride-hailing app like Grab. Your first destination is the Hon Thom Cable Car, one of the world's longest over-sea cable cars. The 15-minute ride offers breathtaking panoramic views of the An Thoi archipelago. The ticket often includes access to Sun World Hon Thom, which features a water park. Afterwards, head to one of Phu Quoc's most famous beaches. Sao Beach (Bai Sao) is known for its picture-perfect white sand and turquoise water. Nearby Khem Beach (Bai Khem) is another stunning option, often considered quieter and more pristine.
Day 3: Northern Exploration and National Park
Head north to discover a wilder, more serene side of Phu Quoc. A significant portion of the north is covered by Phu Quoc National Park, a protected area of lush forest. While hiking trails can be limited, you can explore the area by motorbike to experience its natural beauty. Continue to the northwestern tip to visit Ganh Dau Cape, where you can see the coastline of Cambodia on a clear day. For a unique experience, visit Rach Vem Fishing Village, also known as Starfish Beach, famous for the red starfish that dot its shallow waters during the dry season. It’s a great spot for photos and enjoying a fresh seafood lunch at a floating restaurant.
Day 4: Island Hopping or Theme Park Fun
For your fourth day, choose your own adventure. If you're a water lover, book an island-hopping and snorkelling tour of the An Thoi Islands in the south. These tours typically visit several small islets like Finger Nail Island and May Rut Island, where you can swim in clear waters and explore vibrant coral reefs. Alternatively, if you're travelling with family or seeking high-energy entertainment, spend the day at VinWonders Phu Quoc and Vinpearl Safari in the northern part of the island. VinWonders is a large-scale theme park with water slides and various themed zones, while Vinpearl Safari is an open-range zoo where you can see animals in a semi-wild environment.
Day 5: Local Flavours and Departure
On your final day, take the time for some last-minute cultural immersion and souvenir shopping. Phu Quoc is famous for two local products: fish sauce and black pepper. Consider visiting a traditional fish sauce barrel house or a pepper farm to learn about the production process and purchase some authentic products to take home. Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy a final stroll along a nearby beach or revisit a favourite spot. Afterwards, head to the airport for your departure, filled with memories of the Pearl Island's diverse attractions.
